Vision Education

and The Bates Method
What is Vision Education?

Seeing is an intricate and sensitive learned process and many things influence its function. Vision Education is an invitation to gently explore the capacities of your own eyesight. It is a process of learning to use the eyes, body and mind in a relaxed and natural way in everyday life. Vision Education is a way of getting the best you can from your eyesight and from yourself.

Who is Vision Education for?

Anyone at any age can practice Vision Education. If you experience eyesight challenges or clear sight, Vision Education has something to offer you.

Why Choose Vision Education?

Vision Education is a way of understanding and appreciating our eyesight. It is an approach where eyesight is seen in the context of the whole person. Learning to see naturally has a profound influence on how we see and how we interact in the world.

Testimonials

"The Bates work is fascinating. Coming to understand the connections with my vision problems and emotions, aspects of my life, thoughts/behaviour patterns and even relationships!”

“I had two days of really good vision…it was like winning the lottery and I was going to text you…I managed to do the things I needed to at work, far better than I had in weeks – it was so good for my confidence. I know that this is a sign that I’m on an upwards trend and I’m really feeling reassured.”

"The work that we do has helped me reduce the impact that stress has on my vision. What I've realised is that stress plays a huge factor in how I see. It's been interesting to see how my vision can change throughout the practises. I think it's really important when you are coping with vision loss or eye disease that there is emotional support there as well and I think that this kind of work can offer that. It's almost like you can provide yourself with emotional support through this work... you provide me with suggestions and tools which I can take on board or not take on board. It might be that I don't get it immediately but through time and repetition...having experienced improvements in my vision and in my feeling towards my vision, it's (vision education) been a huge support to me, and it's a support that isn't available through the eye consultants at the hospital."

“I very much enjoyed meeting you and am even more convinced that this approach to eye health and seeing makes sense.”

"I was really amazed at the difference in my vision after today. When I met up with the children we played the colour game and my daughter said it was like being in a bubble of that colour. We went in the Kelvingrove museum for a few minutes and although I've been there a lot I saw the space very differently. It's a shift in consciousness for me to see seeing by itself for itself as a source of continual nourishment rather than just a pragmatic faculty."

“I have been doing lots of practice and can really make my vision clearer. Very exciting!”

“Thea adores you and loves the lessons, and the notes are wonderful, thanks so much”

"When I sit with my clients nowadays, I no longer need to keep taking my glasses on and off to take notes. Before, I constantly had to put my glasses on to write, and take them off again to look at the person, and it drove me crazy! It’s so much simpler now, because I just leave them off, as I no longer need them to write, and I can see much better at both distances.”

“My vision is really improving, and I get lots of moments of clarity (clear flashes). Sometimes now, I look down at my phone to check the time, (forgetting that I can’t see it) and it’s totally clear! I really feel that my vision is coming together now. At the same time, I’ve noticed more moments of actually feeling real happiness.”

“Lately, when walking my dog, I’ve been getting lots of wonderful moments of clarity, both at the distance and close up, and when reading my Kindle, my vision starts to come clear after a while…”
